We collect nothing.

Tally Steps is a step counter for iPhone and Apple Watch, published by Buildfront LLC. This policy covers the app and this website.
What the app collects
Nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The app has no server, so there is nowhere for your information to be sent even in principle.
Health data
With your permission, Tally Steps reads three things from Apple Health:
- Step count
- Walking and running distance
- Active energy burned
It reads these only. It never writes anything back to Health, and it never asks for permission to.
That data is used to draw the screens, the widgets and the watch complications. A copy of the most recent totals is stored on your device, in a private container shared between the app and its widgets, so a widget can render without waking the app. That copy stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
Health data is never transmitted, sold, shared, or used for advertising. You can withdraw access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health, or from within Tally Steps' own Settings screen.
Motion data
The app may also read the pedometer through Core Motion, so today's count keeps up while you walk rather than waiting for Health to catch up in batches. This is handled the same way: on device, never transmitted.
Tips
Settings contains an optional tip jar. Tips are ordinary in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple. Apple is the merchant of record; we never see your payment details, and no activity data is attached to a purchase. What we receive from Apple is anonymous, aggregated sales reporting.
This website
The site counts page views, through Vercel Web Analytics. That records which page you landed on, where you arrived from, and a coarse country, browser and device type.
It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Visits are grouped by a hash Vercel derives from the request and rotates daily, so there is no identifier that follows you between sessions, let alone between sites. No profiles, no advertising, nothing sold.
None of this touches the app. The app has no analytics of any kind and makes no network requests — to this site or anywhere else — which is why everything above says it collects nothing. That remains true. This section is about the website only.
Your appearance preference is stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere.
The site is served by a static host, which — like every web server — keeps short-lived operational logs that may include IP addresses. We do not use these to identify anyone.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
